Rheumatologists are trained specialists who treat patients with clinical problems related to their joints, muscles, bones, soft tissue and connective tissues. Rheumatologists identify many types of rheumatic diseases in their earliest stages, including arthritis, certain autoimmune diseases, carpal tunnel disease, fibromyalgia, gout, lupus, musculoskeletal pain, disorders of the musculoskeletal system, and osteoporosis.
